I started looking for a TV at Walmart with a budget of $600-$700. For the first time, I noticed that the picture quality of this TV is better than any other standard LCD TV, and even better than most wall-mounted LED TVs that cost twice the price. Since it was a Walmart and they are known for bad TV broadcasts, I was a little skeptical and decided to go to another Walmart to see if the difference in quality would be the same. They were. I couldn't believe how natural the sharpness of the E420VL was for this price. I'm a photographer, so my eyes are used to seeing sharp artifacts (ghosting, etc.), but this TV didn't. The image had excellent resolution with the sharpness set to 1, which is great. Another thing I noticed was the natural red look. One thing I've never liked about LCD TVs is the exaggerated red tints that look almost fluorescent. The colors in this video are very similar to the colors of a CRT monitor. I thought to myself, "The picture quality is good, but how does it handle Blu-ray or fast moving videos?" I went online and found nothing but positive reviews, so I decided to check out more TVs at Sam's and BestBuy before making a final decision. After looking both places, I couldn't find a TV with good picture quality for less than $1500. Even the E420VL's image quality didn't rank among the "high" flaws. I'm a very skeptical person, so it was very hard for me to see how this TV would look this good at this price. I was previously aware of Vizio's quality control issues, but after reading many reviews of this particular model, I couldn't find any of the negative reviews that some Vizio models suffer from. Long story short, I went back to Wal-Mart and bought an E420VL for less than $600. After a few tweaks I love it. Here are some of the settings I use to get a great picture: Picture Mode: Video Brightness: 47 Advanced Picture Mode: Smooth Motion Blur: Really Low Movie Mode: 120 Hz resolution or higher) Adjustable Brightness: Enhance (more detail in dark areas; this creates a naturally high image contrast combined with brightness 47)

I work for a cable TV installation company, so I've seen LCD TVs at their best and at their worst. This is definitely top notch TV. 480 analog and digital photos have very little distortion or fading. Hi Def is awesome. So sharp and lively. I am very impressed with the TV for the price and picture quality.

I usually only write a review if I'm incredibly disappointed or incredibly impressed with something... Fortunately, this TV falls into the latter category... I'm definitely very impressed with this TV. I didn't buy it from Amazon (when I bought it from Costco it was $600) so I can't comment on shipping, etc., but I can comment on the quality of the product. Perfect. I have connected several devices to the TV; Blu-ray, PS3, XBox360, Converted DVD, HD Cable, etc. everyone looks great. The menus are very easy to navigate and I haven't had to configure anything since day one. 1080p sources are really great (and 720p is nothing to brag about)... I really can't say anything bad about this TV. My PS3 and Xbox360 look great. Highly recommend a friend!
