Disclaimer: First, I want to say that I do not yet have the equipment to view a 3D image of this set. I bought it as an anti-3-D cover. I'm not sure if 3D will catch on, but I know I'm ready. I decided to give it a shot so you know I won't be able to watch this TV feature, but I have more to say. Now for the display... It comes in a handy Panasonic designed box where you simply drill four holes and lift the top of the box off the base. One day you buy a cake in a plastic container from a bakery. Inside is the TV, stand, remote control (and batteries), power cable and user manual. Attaching the swivel base is very simple: a metal bracket is put on it, then the TV is mounted on the bracket and set in place. The whole process takes 5 minutes and I was able to do it without help. I would also like to point out that Amazon shipped the TV through a company called HomeDirectUSA. They were very professional and opened the box for me to make sure the TV wasn't damaged. The Panasonic Smart isn't looking too good. It is a piano black lacquer and is about 3 inches deep. Piano black base with chrome rim strip. There is a brass strip on the bottom of the TV box. Overall looks stylish but nothing special. At the bottom of the TV is a transmitter for 3D glasses and a remote control sensor. The left panel of the TV has several buttons (channel, volume, menu, input and power), several inputs (HDMI, composite video and an SD card slot) and two USB ports (for connecting a wireless adapter). among others). On the back of the TV (to the left of the TV when viewed from the front) are two HDMI inputs, two component inputs, one composite input, one RF/coaxial input and one PC input. There is also an optical audio output. The build quality of the TV is very good, the materials are good, and overall it feels solid. Finally, the included remote control is long and narrow, but with large backlit buttons. Using the TV is simple and easy. It will help you install, scan channels, configure network and set clock. The menu system is logically organized and easy to use. Picture controls are plentiful, and professional settings allow for fine-tuning, though they're only available in custom picture mode. In addition to the Custom mode, there are Vivid, Standard, THX and Game modes. Each mode can be configured individually and configured differently for each login. Some of the features Panasonic has included include 5 separate timers for turning the TV on and off and a sleep timer. There's also VieraLink, which lets you watch YouTube or Netflix, among other services, as long as the TV is connected to the Internet (I haven't used this feature since streaming this content through my Blu-ray player). You can insert an SD card or USB storage device into the kit, and view photos, videos or listen to MP3 files. When I inserted the SD card from my Canon camera, this function worked fine and the images on the screen looked great. Another great feature is adding channels to favorites so you can jump to them faster or scan just your favorite channels by scrolling up and down. Burn-in reduction features include Pixel Orbit (which changes the shape of the image slightly to prevent burn-in) and Scroll Bar Pattern, which erases a white bar on a black screen in 15 minutes. Although plasma burnout is less of a problem than it once was, if you want to watch high definition TV on the side or play video games and take long vacations, plasma may be the way to go. Don't bet on the best. Finally, there are light sensors on the front of the TV that allow you to adjust the brightness depending on the ambient lighting conditions. I have a group linked this way. My LG Blu-ray player and Nintendo Wii are connected to my Onkyo receiver, which in turn is connected to the Panasonic via HDMI. It connects to a Blu-ray receiver via HDMI and to a Wii via composite video. For cable I use RF/coax input. I'm not a video fan, so I made a photo menu myself where I set the Vivid setting with some tweaks to make it a little less bright (I usually hate vividness, but I love this set). I can see the picture better if I leave the automatic ambient light on. I also have a TV that displays 95% of the picture when the edges are cropped so you don't see distortion around the edges. Whether you're watching HD content, Blu-ray, cable TV or Netflix streaming, the picture looks as good as possible with great detail and clarity (this is especially true when watching Blu-ray discs). Viewing content in standard definition isn't bad either, it doesn't look great when zoomed to 50", but detail is well preserved and acceptable. Regardless of the source, colors are accurate, dynamic range is excellent. Shadows are deep, detailed and lag-free when playing video games or watching animation. content; no motion blur. My previous TV was a 32" 720p LCD, and compared to the Panasonic Plasma LCD, it's more "smooth" and "film-like." Details don't escape the eye (sometimes annoyingly) like in high end LCD TVs but the picture is clear and crisp.The screen seems to work well and it has an anti-glare coating.in a room with two large west facing windows and if necessary I adjust the blinds to keep the sunlight off the screen. As a result, plasma is no worse than a regular tube TV in this regard. Overall, I am very happy with the picture and switched to plasma. The built-in speakers of the TV are great for occasional viewing, but i want a really big screen. Even if the 2.1 system is not a complete 7.2 system. Mine is connected to a 5.1 system. Speaking of sound, I can't hear any noise from the TV. Sometimes there is a slight noise when the sound stops and a bright white scene appears. The TV does not emit much heat. I have some comments. per set, but they are: 1) The piano in the set is blacker than the screen. shows the worst reflections. ditto 2) The box only has 3 HDMI inputs, most have 4. 3) The remote sensor is too low on the TV and my center speaker is in front of the TV so I have to tilt the remote to get the signal. Come to TV All in all...a great plasma TV with lots of inputs, features and settings, but especially great picture quality. PS: Sorry for the long review. There is a lot to cover. If there's anything else you'd like to know, leave a comment and I'll do my best to answer 11/24/2010 Update: You can quickly change channel behavior by pressing the submenu button on your remote. / down key. For example, you can scan only your favorite channels or only digital channels. It's a nice touch and a nice label. Update 02/26/2011: The TV still works and has excellent picture quality. I accidentally exited the menu on my DVD player, stopped it for about half an hour, and within a minute the save image disappeared. No smoking, buzzing or other problems. A large set.

I made the mistake of buying a Samsung 3D Plasma 50" and returned it within a week because of the horrible visuals. Having learned a lesson about the importance of doing your research carefully with this purchase, I decided to find a better TV in my price range (under $1800). We see Panasonic's 3D plasma is at the top of the list. These TVs were voted the best not only for 3D but also for 2D. I went ahead and pulled the trigger on this kit and I'm so glad I did. There are four main things I want , so that the TV can do sports, play video games, watch regular shows and even watch movies. And this set does very well in all areas. I watch a lot of football and UFC and so far those two sports have been great on this TV. Everything runs smooth with no motion blur issues so it's very good for sports i have an xbox 360 and i love first person shooters (cal l of duty halo etc) and so far i've only played COD: Black Ops on this TV but it's really fun to play. The game always looks smooth and the colors are really vibrant on this set. After getting used to the size of the TV (I used to play 37 inches), I fell in love with games again. As for regular TV viewing, I would like to have an HD TV, but unfortunately I don't have one. Standard picture looks great on this TV. My Direct TV receiver is not working properly at the moment and I can only watch a few shows, but SD is fine so far. Watching movies is where this TV excels over other TVs. So far I've watched two regular Blu-rays (The Expendables and Rambo) and one 3D Blu-ray (How to Train Your Dragon) and all I can really say is WOW. I've seen The Unstoppable and Rambo in theaters, and honestly, I think the photography on that set is better than the movie. The colors and amount of detail are incredible. I watched Rambo when it was on the Samsung and while it looked good, it wasn't as good as the Panasonic. As for the 3D, I wouldn't say it's as good as IMAX, but it's as good as true 3D in a movie theater. I also saw Dragon in 3D in the theater and enjoyed it more on this TV. Additional note for 3D; To fly or not, I don't know, good. I bought this TV because it has the best ratings for 2D, so 3D was a bonus. But this is a nice bonus. I've also seen a few Samsung LED TVs and I can confidently say that this Panasonic has the best viewing experience. Now that I have this TV, it just needs a better sound system and theater seats. and I will build. You won't find a better bag for the money. Why spend more on LED when this TV is better and cheaper? If you insist on a great TV in this price range, I would recommend this set. I'm glad!

I was looking for a gift for my mom and dad (my wife and I) and I loved getting things that the whole family could enjoy. As a TV programmer, I go to 3D seminars and get a lot of general advice. I recently learned from a dealer that plasma is better than 3D LED and Panasonic and Samsung have already started a war for exclusive 3D content when Panasonic owns Avatar. After looking at the prices and reviews, I decided to go with the Panasonic and couldn't be happier. Surprisingly, this 50-inch TV weighs less than the 42-inch Sharp HD TV it replaces. It could be hung on the wall and the picture was amazing. And so far the sound has been pretty good for the room, although I'm looking for a surround sound system. The 3D is really cool (there's a prosaic Christmas song with Jim Carrey). Installation was very easy and I was very pleased with the free shipping. The price dropped just after Thanksgiving, and Amazon dropped its compatibility guarantees. Overall a great experience and very happy with this purchase.
