I bought this TV after months of looking to replace a 7 year old 17" LCD TV for my bedroom. I have a huge collection of movies, and I have nowhere else to watch Blu-Ray, except for the TV in my father's cave. I'm tired. My father kicks me all the time out of the house, so at least I decided to invest in a TV that will last me a few years. I chose this model because I needed plasma and value for money. Image quality. I've also seen the Panasonic G20/25, LG PK950 and Samsung C7000. Panasonic has their answer when it comes to boosting black levels, plus floating black quickly crossed my list. I was close to installing the PK950, but when I checked the price, it was discounted. Well, when I was ready, it went up $200 to buy it and didn't go down for weeks while I waited. So I bought this model at a good price. I saw the C7000 in the store and wasn't too impressed. with black levels, but the C6500 is a little darker. I read that this is due to the lack of 3d. should be fine. Since I plan to buy additional TVs in a few years, I decided to wait for the 3D model until more content becomes available. Shipping: I ordered my TV from Amazon on Saturday June 26th and it's scheduled to ship on Tuesday. July 6 My TV was shipped on the 27th, so I expect it to arrive in about 5 hours. Since they never called me, I waited for the TV to turn on in the window I indicated. My scheduled departure time, nothing. Frustrated, I called the delivery pilot. The customer rep told me that my package was in its infancy and would not arrive at my place until the next day! In general, I was told that the Pilot delayed my package for a week. I was unhappy but said I would call the next day to arrange delivery. The next day I didn't get a call. Finally at 6 I called Pilot again. This rep was much nicer and put me in touch with the courier responsible for the delivery. Obviously I lost my paperwork but the woman I spoke to was very nice and apologetic and said my package would arrive the next day and they would call me an hour before. I was packing up the next morning hoping my package would arrive when I got a call from a local courier instead of a Pilot who said he hadn't read the call notification an hour ago and actually asked me on the doorstep. then turn on the TV. Two men came in, put the TV on a stand, put it where I wanted it and plugged it in before asking me for my autograph. When they arrive, it's a wonderful experience, but don't assume that the scheduled delivery time is absolute. If you haven't heard anything the day before the meeting, be sure to call the operator before leaving work. From an aesthetic point of view, the c6500 is an excellent device. Nice and smooth edges, flat black color and some transparent plastic on the sides. The base is black and matches the TV. It's almost as impressive as it sounds. Buzz: After the dispatcher left, I left my room and as I entered I heard a strange buzzing sound. My house is completely silent, so the sound is clear and when I hear it, I know it's Samsung's famous voice. The first few days I was a little confused, but I quickly got over it. Now I only notice it when I'm in the middle and the volume is low, or when I'm in a quiet part of a movie. For me, this is not a problem, but I understand why for some it is. Afterimage: My 7 year old LCD has serious image retention issues. With this TV, the entire image will stay on the screen before disappearing for a while, colors and all. With Samsung, it's more than just an image shadow. Menus and text are more responsive when viewed for more than twenty seconds. I don't think it fades that fast and it has a slip pattern that can be changed to rule out anything too durable. Reflection: This TV reflects quite well. I have a window that faces the TV, and I have a curtain that does not go there, the light comes from the frame. The recording is visible on the screen, but I can easily ignore it and not reduce the image. If you have a CRT or glass TV, you should know what to expect. If you have large windows in front of the screen, you might want to consider a matte LCD screen. Image Quality: I have watched a lot of content on this TV and am generally very pleased with it. I admit that I am very picky and critical when it comes to good photos. Color rendering is very good. When I watched the Blu-ray, I was amazed at how sharp the image was. My father's cave TV is a Mitsubishi rear projection. Even with Blu-ray, the picture is not as smooth and uniform as Samsung's. The colors are definitely amazing, but not like my father's Mitsubishi or my uncle's Pioneer Kuro. I don't think most people will notice, but if you're used to LCDs, you probably will. Don't get me wrong, it still shows up, just not as often as it used to. As for the black level, it is not as deep as I expected. Mitsubishi definitely has deeper blacks, which I pay a lot of attention to when it comes to black stripes. Even though the screen is full, I don't feel it. This is my very critical view and most people won't notice. Since this is a TV in the bedroom, I don't have cable. Only those channels that go directly to the TV through my coaxial cable. It's SD, although I'd say this TV works well. To my surprise, this model accepts OTA HD channels. The quality really depends on the content, but I was impressed. I received a huge compliment when my sister took the TV and my room to watch an All Star baseball game on Fox HD. For this, someone who does not care about image quality must have a good photo. While the blacks aren't very deep, I still find the picture to be better than most TVs. Internet: I bought this model because it has applications and an Internet connection. Ignore the Samsung chart on the Amazon info page, it's inaccurate and this TV definitely has an app. I want to watch movies and update software without any complications. I have an old Samsung Blu-ray player without USB or Wi-Fi and can only be updated via CD or LAN which is on a different floor of the house. It really hurts so I don't want any problems with my TV. My router is in my bedroom so I can easily plug in an ethernet cable, but I'd like to use wireless in the future when I'm ready to move. Instead of spending $60 on a Samsung dongle, I bought a Rosewill adapter with the same chipset for $27 with shipping. Very cheap and works great. I tried Amazon VOD because of the credit they gave me for signing up. I watched Kill Bill and the HD quality was good, but not the Blu-Ray quality. When I pause, the pause menu overlays the black bar, so it stays in that part of the screen for a while, not seeing anything else. A little annoying, but the slider can't fix anything. I like to have instant access to many movies so I would definitely invest in a Netflix account as they have the most content. There's also Vudu, a free rental that gives you multiple movie channels from Blockbuster and Best Buy. I rarely use Facebook or Twitter so I can't comment on this. No, Pandora, I know it's a public favourite. Other: after just an hour of use, this TV started to get very hot. When my door was closed my dad came into my room several times and asked me why it was so hot and I must say it was because of the TV. It can get a little stuffy in a small enclosed space like my bedroom. Large open spaces should provide sufficient circulation to minimize problems. Luckily we had central air conditioning but otherwise I don't know if I could live with that in my bedroom. For those interested, there's a Samsung iPhone/iPod Touch app that lets you turn your remote control into any 2010 internet-connected TV. I find it a little annoying and pointless, but some of you will like it. Overall, I think this is a great TV that deserves some serious bragging rights. After about eight months of research and thinking about whether I made the right choice, I am very glad that I bought the C6500. BUT for those who really want to invest in 3D technology, I recommend the C7000/8000 series or the recently released Plasma C680. It looks the same as the C6500 but with 3D and the same MSRP. If 3D is not a problem, take the 6500 series. For such a price, you won't regret it! Update: Pandora has been added as an app for anyone interested.

Struggling between this TV and the G25. The Panasonic has warmer colors and better movement, but I can't stand graininess. I ended up going back and buying this Samsung. I'm happy with it. I would only recommend the Panasonic if you have a very dark room (even during the day) and only plan to watch movies, but overall I would choose the Samsung for everyday use. While Panasonic has a better anti-glare screen - Great PQ, less grain - Slim interface and bezel - Super thin - Better sound than Panny - Colors "bright" like LCDs, the G25 definitely has it. Realistic colors of things (especially when viewed in a dark room) - Excellent response speed in games - If you like games, plasma is what you need - BUZZ - My first C6500 was so bad that it looked like it was behind it honeycombs. The TV is off and built in July 2010 ^^ and I'm happy to say it's SUPER weak; only visible when you put your ear close to the screen. So if you're really paranoid, try ordering the latest build. - No black refresh :) - Runs hot but that's to be expected from all plasmas - Doesn't work as well with fast travel/burrowing as Panasonic - It's IR. First bought there, but in July 2010 there was almost nothing. Even if you bought one with IR, it will be gone in a minute - if you're looking for the best-spec SD reference plasma for your home theater, look elsewhere (G25). If you're looking for an all-in-one plasma TV with great daytime performance, less grain, and great colors, the Samsung is the way to go.

This TV is a must for those who are not interested in 3D. I don't have a retailer nearby that sells this model (retailers prefer the more expensive 3D models) so I bought it blind on Amazon. It was a good decision! Pros: The picture quality of this TV is excellent. Black is black, the color is bright, the movements are smooth. The most important thing I noticed compared to Samsung's smaller 1080p LCD is that bright objects on this TV are very bright. Blacks look pretty deep to me, definitely an improvement over LCDs or LEDs I've seen. Picture quality is also better than the Samsung PN50C550 50-inch 1080p (black) HD Plasma TV I've seen in stores. This model has a bad habit of blurring the background, something these plasma TVs and Samsung models don't have. If you're torn between the two, like me, take this. The film settings are excellent and there are plenty of calibration options if you want to get an image you really like. Samsung should be proud to put its name on this TV. The advantage of this TV is that it doesn't suffer from the telenovela effect. Actually enabling this effect is not an option at all! The standard tuner is fine. The TV picked up my local channels and the HD sports were amazing. SD programming looks pretty good compared to my old LCD, but I personally see less and less SD stuff these days. I plugged in my HTPC and the TV has a perfect 1:1 pixel resolution which means no backlight. This TV is very thin (like the LED series) and very compact. I prefer Samsung's traditional glossy look to the matte black matte metal of the 7000 series plasmas I've seen in stores. There was no sound, at least I didn't hear it. My wife makes a living from music, so she has a good ear and never complains. Mine was made in June, they know it. Image retention started out really bad but improved within a week and has been a serious IR factor ever since. My Xbox is connected to my TV and the game runs great with no ghosting or blurring. Cons: Contrary to the description above, the TV does not have Cinema Smooth, unless you want to hack its service menu. I thought it was the 8000. Personally, I didn't want to void my warranty, so I kept it. If you look online, you'll find that Cinema Smooth still improves black levels and may not be a necessary feature. If you want 24p go beyond Samsung. The service manual warns against watching a lot of 4:3 content (as long as you avoid burning vertical black bars) and I've had no problems with that, even if your DVD collection is extensive. -TV SD 2000 can watch everything that does not have plasma. The only downside to picture quality is that it's not as sharp as some TVs I've seen; images are not as "visible" as older models. But overall, blacks, color, and motion blur are easily comparable to any LCD for the price. This TV might not be the best if you have a bright room, as the screen isn't as bright as some LCDs, but that brightness (unless you're paying over $2,000 for original dimmable LEDs) also means washed out colors. so think blinds and enjoy the show! The final downside is that the stand is thin, but you can add TVs. support the nearest wall. All in all, I think this TV is worth it for those who don't care about 3D and should be considered over the thicker but cheaper 2009 plasmas. Amazon seems to be the only place to buy it and thanks for that! Other comments: Delivery is easy. I called Pilot the day after Amazon confirmed the delivery and they scheduled the delivery a week before the scheduled delivery date. The courier helped me set it up and connected my Blu-ray player to make sure it worked. Don't be afraid to shop online, it's very nice. Time to watch a movie!
