Great features, easy to use, the only downside

I just received this receiver to replace an old Sony receiver that didn't have an HDMI input. This receiver works well with the LG 47LW5700 3D TV. Features: * Easy setup * Great sound * Auto volume keeps loud movies from getting too loud. With old Sony receivers, you had to constantly adjust the volume during movies. * Multiple inputs, other inputs can be easily reset if the pre-fitted inputs do not meet your device needs. transmitted via their video system and deconverted from 480p to 1080i. The picture looks good but due to the video processing there is a lot of lag which makes the game playable. On my Wii, I can hear Mario jumping for at least a second (on Super Mario Brother Wii) before he jumps onto the TV screen. I ended up playing everything through my TV input (no 1080i boost) and using the audio return channel to route all audio to the receiver. It makes all my games playable with synchronous sound. Had I known that conversion would introduce too much latency, I would have just gone with the STR-DH520 and saved a few bucks. Conclusion: Great for everything but gaming. Play through the TV and then the sound into the receiver.

Great home theater receiver paired with Polk. speakers

I ordered this receiver and several Polk amps (center, main, surround, powered subwoofer) from Amazon.com for a low price compared to market prices. Cinema Glad to have all of this without spending a fortune (less than $900 for the whole system), now I can enjoy movies and music at home. You don't have to go out like...

Despite the many negative reviews, I decided to try this remedy. We are casual and occasional users (cable, roku, dvd). You don't need anything fancy or fancy. However, after only 3 days of use, the sound on the HDMI SAT/CATV connection failed. After re-reading the reviews I see I'm not the first to have had this particular crash, I reassembled it and replaced it with a Denon 1312 for about the same price and I also liked the visual (or almost) visual feedback when I pressed the ATT remote control, then I hear all three devices (TV, tuner, decoder) remotely. Sony only has digital playback, which slows down a bit at launch. The Denon box has a red (off) green (on) circle around the selector knob that is highly visible and changes instantly when a high range signal is detected.
