3 Good TV and good price to access 3D
Jonathan K Fargason
The Samsung C750 is the most affordable 3D TV on the market. Not only 3D TVs are fully compatible with the new standard, they are also excellent 2D LCD TVs. The 3D TV aspect is the most interesting and sets it apart from most other LCD screens (including the Samsung 650 model). While there isn't much content, I've seen Monsters Vs. Aliens 3D played the video game Avatar on PS3, watched Masters 3D and tried to convert 2D to 3D Live, movies and games. The problem is where you see the double image. However, I was able to set the Samsung 3D Bluray player to the correct TV size (default is 55 inches) and I updated the firmware and it seems to have improved a lot. I suspect the image size spoils the effect and causes more halos than usual. For Avatar, I left the 3D effect at 1, set the correct TV size and viewing distance, and chose Parallel 3D (you have to set the TV to fit) and the effect is amazing! I still see ghosts in movie scenes, but they look weird when they play. The teachers were a bit mixed. It's also 3D parallel, which is cool at times (your jaw drops as the camera moves through the environment), but when you first see some serious shadows, the moment is lost. However, I believe that once cable and satellite boxes become more 3D capable, you will be able to adjust screen size, depth, and viewing distance. 2D in 3D is unique and has its bright spots, but it also has serious drawbacks. Let's just say you won't confuse Monster vs. Transformations (you can change the depth) can be very blurry in some materials, and most materials are not worth looking at. Some movies like Star Trek are great fun, but I wouldn't buy a TV just for that feature. 2D content is great. The colors (even the black levels, where you can adjust the backlight without having to hack the firmware), sharpness, and overall features (like MotionPlus) are great for the price point. I disabled MotionPlus simply because it gives a "Spanish series" effect to non-sports programs. I had a bit of a weird problem that seemed to go away after resetting the cable box when the picture was jumping around with the Time Warner HD cable box connected via HDMI (you need HDMI to watch 3D Masters). I can't really put it in front of the TV, it's more like a cable box, but I've read about similar issues with some Samsung models, so it looks like the unit has some faulty firmware. Overall, if it weren't for the lingering content issues (content may exist, but I'm not sure, I'd love to see more 3D TVs) and the 2D to 3D conversion is a bit disappointing, I'd give this TV a full thumbs up. As it stands, if you're looking for an affordable HDTV and want a 3D option, you can't go wrong. You have plenty of inputs (plus two USB slots) and the TV is a great addition to your entertainment space, so I highly recommend this TV (about $1000 cheaper than LED models of the same size). 2010: I had this TV for a few weeks and updated the firmware, tested other features, and calibrated more firmware for my Samsung 6900 Bluray 3D player twice. Edit my comment on 2D -> 3D Transform. I don't know if it's a firmware update or what, but I can definitely see the difference in most scenes now (I'm up to 10 years old). Games like Uncharted 2 with maps like "The Village" look great. I can also make the avatar (game) on the PS3 look good in 3D with minimal shadows. With firmware updates and the Optimize 3D for TV option, Monster Vs. Aliens 3D looks great too. I had a goofy moment where I saw a big break while playing a game like Rock Band and finally realized there was a game mode. Since I switched to gaming mode, I no longer have any problems playing video games, and response times are now close to zero. Beautiful and 3D impressed me even more. It was cheaper on Amazon for a while than it is now, but the price has gone up again. Always worth it. I can see some people hitting the TV just because the glasses aren't included, or because they don't compete with Panasonic's 3D plasma models, but they obviously don't notice. Everyone who has reviewed this TV on Amazon has it, and several websites review 3D TV without owning it. I've seen reviews based on a 5 minute demo and they can't even tell you the firmware status. Trust me, this TV is amazing, and once you experience real 3D sources, you will have no doubt that 3D is the next wave of television (it may take a few years before it reaches the general public). After the firmware update I also gave it 5 stars because stability/crosstalk has improved a lot (still not perfect but impressive). Final Edit: 24-10-2012: If you're still considering this particular model (you can find it second-hand or cheap), here's something to look out for. I removed 2 stars from my rating for this, after a few years your TV will start flickering. This is a common error on many Samsung LCD TVs and is completely unacceptable. Samsung doesn't really recognize this problem and expects you to pay a technician to fix the TV. The problem is with the backlight power supply causing the flickering. You can work around this by dimming the backlight until it stops flashing and then resetting it, but this is annoying and performs poorly. Alternatively, you can remove the back panel and simply remove the following jumpers: JP852 if you have an earlier model (BN44-00341B or BN44-00343B), or cut the jumper JP854. It will never work and I got 2 stars in the original review.

5 Impressions after 1 week
Shawn Scott
I posted this on the AVS forums and decided to post it here, I also bought a TV here on Amazon. Slowest delivery I've seen in a long time. I'd rather pay a few bucks than wait for weeks to no avail. First impressions: Image quality: By default, the image/brightness/backlight is very "bright" but varies greatly depending on the image mode. Cinema mode perfectly matches image settings with C650 film display metering (LCD purchase guide metering). It took me only 3-5 minutes to calibrate each entry for the hardware I was using, and it took me a few minutes to find the game mode as it doesn't exist with the picture mode. Very complete picture settings and 5 Auto Motion Plus modes with demo mode if you're not sure. In general, the picture is great with my HD cable, not to mention Blu-ray. Head-to-head with the Bravia EX700: I don't like the TV brand and wanted to try Sony this time. I still own the Bravia, but will be back at Best Buy this weekend. In our opinion, Sony's textures and colors look more realistic and perhaps more subtle, but are very faded. Samsung is much more lively and apart from streaming the same movies from the same sources, everyone here chooses Samsung no matter how much Sony plays. The dark scenes in Bravia are incomparable. Even in extreme backlighting, it starts to fade and doesn't have that WOW. This is the only way I can describe it. I also have a huge drop in contrast on my Sony when you move away from the center 2 feet in any direction, but I found it just fine. I don't know about Samsung until you look to the side of the TV. Great viewing angle. After all, I only watched from the middle. I could go ahead and figure out the features I like and don't like, but it takes time, so I'll tell you which are my favorites for now. I play a lot of HD movies from my computer in another room. Streaming to this TV from my cable network works better than the 360 and PS3. No loading time at all. I have about 80 MKV files (about 1 TB) in one folder and they upload instantly and stream perfectly. You have to see it to believe it. Streaming options are similar to DVD/Blu-ray players, with lots of great features. Sony cannot be compared in this category. It will not stream mkv and degrade the quality of anything it can stream. I just thought this TV added DNLA for fun but not a real feature. Not so with the C750. Also interesting online options and AP news. I'll leave it at that for now and maybe take another look at 3D if anyone's interested. So far I'm very happy with this TV and I'm still looking for flaws. If you have any questions, don't hesitate. Image quality update 06/29/2010 Quick tip. I've found that most people don't: for high definition content, especially HDMI, reduce sharpness to 10 or less to eliminate aliases. You will soon see a lot of nicknames on new TVs for making the sharpness so high. Just upgrade to SD content. I've had enough time in front of the TV to really try things out and I'm still very impressed. Of course, there is a slight drop in contrast at wide viewing angles. It's invisible unless you're watching or watching TV from across the room. The only thing I don't like is what they call Auto Motion Plus. Instead of Custom, Low, Medium, and High, they call Custom, Clear, Standard and Smooth without telling you what High and Low are. This has increased the learning curve for testing TV features for various things. I've also noticed that if you set Auto Motion Plus to high on some wired content, you'll get the kind of choppy/smooth effect you don't get on low or medium. Personally, I like the auto-animation effect on most of the content. At least I use low for everything but video games and it brings images to life. When playing online games, you have to use the game mode, and there is hardly any noticeable lag. All image parameters can be adjusted in game mode, except for Auto Motion. When I activated Game Mode for the first time, the picture looked terrible because the default sharpness was set to 50. Reduce it to 10 or less to remove aliases and the picture becomes almost perfect. The TV can do some great visual tricks, but processing adds a lot of lag, so don't play eye candy like Auto Motion Plus unless you're playing offline. Unless they make a small calibration. Sharpness alone can kill your HD images, but with Game Mode turned off, Auto Motion on, and other anti-aliasing techniques, the lag is almost unbearable. The game mode fixes all that. Adjust if you can or ask for help. Where should you start? First, I'll cover the 3D effect on my eyes, then what they look like. I've been playing with 3D a lot in the last few days and the results have been mixed. If you have watched Monsters vs. I was surprised to see such extensive customization in 3D mode. 3D itself has depth and optimization options, as well as a host of other image settings for 3D only and the ability to use Auto Motion in 3D to enhance your experience. Again, reducing sharpness, especially when playing in 3D, greatly improves image quality. Overall, it's no surprise to see so many customizable settings, as this is the most customizable TV I've ever seen. I don't usually wear glasses, but my boyfriend got used to it, it just took some time. The glasses bothered me a lot on my first day of cable TV, but didn't bother me at all. It was like seeing a 3D Avatar on Imax. I developed eye strain after about 10 minutes of continuous vision, forcing me to take off my glasses every few minutes to rest my eyes. But after 5 days I will notice that I am slowly getting used to it and it bothers me more and more. However, this is not the case when playing 3D games. I played for 30-60 minutes a few times. It doesn't irritate the eyes at all (very happy). More about the game in a minute. Also, monsters vs aliens in 3D and 1080p videos don't bother me, essentially proving the theory that most of the 3D eye strain comes from the source of the video you're watching. In my case, this is very true. Low resolution sources like 2D to 3D cables were a problem for me, while 3D Blu-ray, 3D gaming, and 1080p video didn't have the same effect on my eyes even after 30 or 60 minutes. I haven't seen the full movie yet, but I will soon. The first thing I tried to do was convert 2D to 3D for both SD and HD cables. Not as good as real 3D content on Blu-ray, but not bad at all. At a distance from the camera, the effect is not as great as in a close-up shot. Looks very good up close. To me it looks like a "lightweight" version of the Avatar 3D look on Imax. SD content appears to be of such low resolution that it may not be feasible to convert 2D and 3D content to HD content. I didn't notice any artifacts, shadows, glitches or anything like that, but I must point out that we have glasses that are rechargeable, not battery powered, and I've read that glasses alone can change the viewing experience. I don't think there's any point in giving up on glasses once you've gone this far and bought a TV. Get the right glasses and avoid the stupid problems other people have. Then I tried some of my 1080p mkv and m2ts files. We cannot determine the loss of resolution here. It's amazing compared to 3D cables. It still looks full HD and the 3D effect is clearer. I tried Alice in Wonderland, LOTR, The Matrix and a few others. Use Auto Motion Plus with it and it will be even more awesome to me. It's not "3D" like "Monsters vs. Aliens" and there's no visual effect in anything I convert, but it's far beyond what I imagined when I heard "convert 2D to 3D". Now we will definitely watch these 1080p movies regularly. It's great to see my vast film library with renewed excitement after seeing it in action in my favorite films like Lord of the Rings and The Usual Suspects, which I've seen at least 5 or 6 times. Finally, I played PS3 and 360 games in 3D. Sony has released several 3D demos, so I tried the MLB The Show 3D demo and the Motorstorm Pacific Rift 3D demo. Both look great, but Motorstorm is the one that stands out the most. I liked it so much that I went and bought a used copy of this game 2 years ago, assuming there would be a full 3D game update. Not the bag, not the suitcase. The update I was asked to install did not include 3D mode. I'm impressed that they released a demo of something that can't be bought, and I'm still annoyed by their trick, but it gave me the opportunity to test a 2D 3D demo with an enhanced 3D view. I'm sure all the demos were doing was putting the TV in the correct 3D optimization mode and making some adjustments to the camera, as side-by-side 3D viewing is very similar to a full game in 2D-3D. However, the demo has been tweaked so that the bottom edge of the screen extends a few feet into your living room, so sometimes dirt and passing cars jump off the screen and hit you. Funny - good. Then I tried some 360 games this way. аспрабаваў Battlefield Bad Company 2, Blur, Red Dead Redemption Modern Warfare 2. азмытасць е ела акога енага екту, .
