I've been looking at plasma TVs for the past few months in preparation for my first major TV purchase. It was a tedious process that finally led me to purchase the Panasonic G25. After living with this TV for about three weeks and enjoying the C7000 for a long time, I'm ready to compare them. The first thing worth noting is why I decided to bring back the G25. Two words: floating blacks. This should not be confused with the phenomenon of black fading, the depth of the panel, the ability to reproduce blacks decreases over time (although it affects the 2010 models, but it happens gradually). "Floating blacks" occur when the brightness of images on the screen changes and the black levels move up and down. This creates a big problem because it is reactive; When a bright image is displayed, the blacks do not rise immediately, so the result will be very visible and annoying. Many people speak of floating black men, while others swear they don't exist or are invisible. I find this behavior common in all materials and absolutely irresistible. It's a shame because the G25 was fantastic in every way. Very close colors, rich blacks with excellent shadow detail in THX mode, no background image or burn-in. The G25 outperformed the C7000 in all of the above categories, and I'd love to see Panasonic pick their spot. Go to C7000. Overall I am very happy with the TV. Aesthetically, this is a very attractive collection. The base is nice brushed aluminum (okay, maybe metal, but the finish is brushed), the bezels are also much better than the glossy bezels on most TVs I think and the glass is also brushed. That... etc. The base mount and bezel complete the main TV. The picture quality of this TV is definitely excellent. I found the colors to be very inaccurate out of the box, and come out more accurate than the Panasonic without professional calibration. Black levels are good, though not as saturated as the G25 (though that may have changed a year or two before the update). The screen is a bit brighter than the G25 in many colors and I had no problem scrolling. The G25 was surprisingly grainy, which can be a problem if the typical viewing distance is close to average (like greater than 8 feet). The standard menu allows more settings than Panasonic, and the average person does not need to dig in the service menu. The web widgets are much better than the Panasonic, but I have a lot of streaming, media devices, etc. As a result, Samsung's built-in apps are rarely used. There are a few things that bother me about the Samsung, and none of them are necessarily important. Image retention is sharper on this TV than my parents 5 year old Panasonic or Phillips. A still image that stays on the screen for a few minutes creates a background image (and I have the pixel orbit enabled after a minute). Fortunately, this happens within minutes of converting to pixels, and none of it causes burnout. I play games and still don't notice the burn. I also noticed some bleeding that I've never seen on a G25, but this seems to be an isolated phenomenon that I haven't seen again. This goes well with the other flawed game mode. Input lag in this group makes games unplayable in any mode except game mode. This is not a problem in itself as there is no lag in game mode. The problem comes from a poorly designed menu. To turn on Game Mode, you need to go to the menu, scroll down to Services, and then click on the General Settings menu and choose to turn it on or off. If the input lag is too consuming in any way, a single button on the remote control should be pressed. Also, you can't disable game mode by simply changing picture modes. Instead, you have to backtrack through the same stupid menu tree. Annoying and unnecessary but at least in game mode the input lag is acceptable. What worries many buyers about this set is the 3D capability. It's the cheapest 3D TV currently available and (especially with the existing BR player and starter kit) unbeatable value for money. The 3D on this TV is just as good as the big boys (read: VT25), with minimal interlacing or ghosting. 3D content is scarce at the moment and will likely remain so for the foreseeable future (partly due to the curse of police special packs sponsored by Samsung and the studios themselves – talk about shooting yourself in the foot). So the 2D-3D conversion algorithm is a nice addition and can produce some surprisingly impressive results. This works well for some content and poorly for others, so you should experiment and see what works for you. Some games and animated content are particularly responsive. I recently tried native 3D content on the PS3 and was pleasantly surprised by the results. Stardust HD and Motorstorm exceeded my expectations, especially since they weren't originally made in 3D. While WipeOut isn't great (and is a medical game at best), it still takes advantage of the extra depth that 3D offers and still has a significant impact. I should also add that I have no connection or sync issues between the mirrors and the TV. In addition, the glasses are very comfortable, and changing the battery every 50 hours is better than draining the indoor units in the long run, which requires a trip to the factory (or landfill). . A small but important note. When Samsung's 7000 series plasma TVs first hit the market, they included a picture-processing mode called Motion Judder Canceller, which couldn't be beat. What this treatment actually does is not important; It should be removed like the plague. If you choose this package, make sure you have firmware 1026 or higher, or download it immediately if you don't have it. Out of curiosity, I changed my C7000 to C8000 in the service menu, which enabled MJC to be enabled or disabled (I don't recommend it as it's not needed). I turned it on and after a few seconds I wanted to cry, it was really that bad. Make sure the MJC is permanently off. And always. I think this review may sound a bit negative. I've decided to move away from Samsung, and if this is any indication, I'm glad Panasonic is back. If you don't need/want 3D and see floating blacks or know what I'm on about (and trust me, it's better not to know, especially good luck here) I'd give the G25 a slight edge in overall image quality. He prefers the Panasonic mainly because it's surprisingly cheap for the photography it offers. Otherwise, considering the feature set and stunning design, the Samsung is a great piece and an unbeatable value. While all 2010 plasma models have their flaws, the C7000 offered the least value in the right places in the areas that mattered to me.

This TV is simply fantastic. The picture quality is at a high level, and after looking at several models from Panasonic, Samsung and LG, I decided that for the price, this TV has everything I need. I am very happy with my decision. After I bought the Samsung LED in December, I was a bit of a victim. My first HDTV was a plasma and after a few LCDs and LEDs I decided to go back to plasma. I mainly compared Panasonic and Samsung, but also took a quick look at some LG LED TVs. It finally came down to the Panasonic G25 and this PN50c7000 TV. Image quality was very important to me, so it came first. Both TVs looked good in HD (source: Star Trek BD), but after watching both a few times, I felt the PN50c7000 came out on top. I consulted a friend who is an HDTV expert (professional calibrator) and he talked about the pros and cons of each model. I chose the PN50c7000 and am very pleased. Image quality is fantastic, with rich colors and very deep blacks. The addition of 3-D was a plus for me, but definitely not one of my priorities. Standard definition looks fantastic, and with today's TVs, SD quality can vary greatly from TV to TV (the G25 wasn't very good at SD playback, which was one downside for me). Finally, the PNc7000 had a lot more web capabilities than the G25, which was another added bonus, as well as 3D. Since receiving the TV I have tested several sources and found it to be very accurate in color and again has excellent contrast. I also want to address a problem with this television, the so-called "serial effect." First generation models of this TV were pre-installed with MJC (the newer models are not supported) or Motion Judder Cancer, which made the motion appear "fake" or ghostly when viewed from some sources. This feature is also present in the C8000 series, but for some reason Samsung did not include the option to disable it in the C7000. Many people have sent their team away in anger because of this, but it's actually a very simple solution. There are many options, the simplest of which is "game mode". Toggling Game Mode in General Settings disables this effect. Do this for each source and it won't be redundant for MGC. Samsung has released a USB stick-installable firmware update on their website that fixes the issue. A recent option that many tech savvy people have done is to change the TV from a c7000 model to an 8000 model via the service menu, which gives you a menu item to disable MJC. I have verified that this works, but at my own risk. If you make a mistake, you can build a television. The first two options are very simple and safe to implement. So don't return your device and don't miss out on some amazing TV. Overall, this TV has it all. The PNc7000 has impressive PQ, web and 3D capabilities, complemented by a sleek and slim design. I would recommend this TV to anyone, and while the Panasonic G25 is also an amazing TV, I'm leaning more towards the Samsung this year. Update This model has a screensaver that many, including me, are familiar with. Don't worry, it's never permanent. A 100 hour break is recommended for most plasmas, and this one is no exception. If you are worried about temporary burning, be sure to lower the contrast and, most importantly, the brightness. Do this for the first 50-100 hours and the image after that should be a problem. For those who don't want to do this, open the screen scrollbar while the background image is showing and it will help. Note: I recently froze my screen for 3 hours (I forgot to turn it off) and it actually burned a little. I let the scrollbar run for 2 minutes and everything disappeared. It works very well. Update #2. Well, after about 11 months of use (and the best 11 months), a string of pixels died on my screen. About 1/3 of the way down is a very small line. I opened the TV to check all the connections and they were tight so I blamed it on the wrong panel. Luckily I bought an extended warranty so BB ordered a new panel and will send someone out to install it later this week. I'm sure Samsung offers a warranty for at least the first year, but the process can be complicated and time-consuming. I did a quick search to see if anyone else had this problem, but only found a few issues so far. Although it's certainly disappointing that the panel failed after 11 months, the PNC7000 is still a great TV with amazing PQ. I give it 4 stars, the conditions are there. I thought I'd share my experience, albeit a rare one.

I bought this TV to replace an old JVC DLP 1080i set. The colors and details are fantastic. I only read PS3 games and Blu-ray movies on the plasma. There was no blurring in action movies as seen on some LCDs. I don't know how it compares to "industry best" plasmas like the Kuro, but from what I saw, black levels were pretty good. I consider myself a techie, so I really appreciate all the settings available for the 7000 series. I would like to purchase the PN50C8000 with Pro Calibration controls, but they were not available for me when I purchased this model. Internet functionality adds to the appeal of computers. I can connect directly with a LAN cable, so all internet gadgets and video streams are fast and lag-free. Perhaps one of the biggest connectivity options has to be the USB connection. I have a 1TB external hard drive full of movies and videos. I've encountered an unknown file format that the TV won't play. It even plays .mkv files. This TV has only a few drops. From the first time I turned it on, there was a screeching sound on the screen. I can't pinpoint the location but you can hear it when you want to turn the volume down (like when our baby is sleeping). Apparently this is a constant problem with Samsung TVs and I think I am one of the latest victims. Still not sure how to deal with this noise (go back to Best Buy or call Samsung). This is to be expected given how thin these screens are, but the sound is very heavy and weak. Most people probably want to buy a CD player or set up a home theater like me, so that's okay. Another common problem with plasma screens (what the manufacturers will tell you) is image burn-in. I've read online that a modern plasma screen shouldn't suffer from this problem, but let me tell you, if you leave the DVR on a bright screen or network icon image for more than a few minutes. (Discovery Channel HD) You will definitely see the picture for some time. The TV has options to reduce the pixels or "turn them on" on their own, but you still have to be careful. I really like the PN50C7000 so far, would definitely recommend it, but I'm always wary of the noise.
