Great TV, almost perfect
By E. Kirschner
To present: This television replaces the UN55B8000 LED that I have and which does not work. So this review should provide a good perspective for those like me who are debating between LED and plasma. Overall, the PN59D6500 is an excellent TV. It shows beautiful images with deep blacks and beautiful colors. There are a few issues that make it incomplete. Graphics: The graphics are excellent, especially for my primary use of watching Bluray movies. For watching a Bluray movie in a dark environment, I don't think any other TV can match it. It's like a modern movie, only better. The image is so deep and rich. Absolutely awesome. There is no competition with LEDs for this environment. It looks different during the day. I would say the image is very good but not as bright as LED. The white above is relatively dull and you won't see a Best Buy pop as easily as with a plasma next to an LED. For this reason, if you primarily watch TV or play sports during the day, you should consider LEDs. Note that this TV is not good during the day. I've watched hockey on ESPN and the ice still looks bright and white. Gameplay: I have to give Plasma the edge here. Again, it's not as bright as LEDs, but offers a better picture with richer colors. I thought God of War 3 looked good on LED, but was amazing on plasma. It looks like you are reading 300 movies. 3D Movies: I think 3D is a nice extra feature on this TV. Now that they're giving away free glasses, everyone should be happy. However, these extra features are not the reason I bought this TV. Because 3D is great for watching movies, it's not a perfect technology. The sense of depth is excellent, but the image is very dark and has noticeable flicker. I see it as something awesome to see in a big budget FX movie (Avatar, Tron), but it certainly won't replace the standard 2D screen. I tried 3D on a Sony TV and there were quite a few dropouts. The LG 3d doesn't have much jitter, but the picture isn't great. 3D Games: Very cool, but the tech isn't up to snuff here It's not the TV's fault The PS3 isn't ready to ship here yet. To render 3D, the resolution of the game must be reduced by half. The difference is very noticeable, especially on a giant screen like this. When playing Killzone 3 3D, a flagship 3D game, the feeling of depth really enhances the gaming experience. really special. Only then will you realize that the graphics look like garbage. At half-resolution, everything in the image looks sharp, pixelated, and slightly shiny. It's almost like suddenly playing a Wii game. Again, still fun to try, but I can't wait to see the 3D the PS4 can do. OEM: The biggest complaint about plasmas, especially Samsung, is that they have a hum problem. This was probably corrected in the 2011 model. Well it still is, a little. But it's uneven. And only when the screen is completely black or almost black (like during credits or night scenes). When this happens, you will see a high-pitched buzzing sound. Not too loud, not as loud as a PS3 fan. But it's high, so it cuts everything else. Since it doesn't happen often and isn't very noisy, I decided to live with the problem and generally forget about it. a bit scorching Of course, that brings me to the reason I bought this TV in the first place, which is that my UN55B8000 has the infamous flashlight problem in the corner. This leads to terrible black levels and screen irregularities. Samsung service is diligent and very professional in handling my problem. On the 3rd service call, they brought me a brand new panel. The new panel has the same problem, but it's worse. I was shocked when they called me and said they would give me a full refund. Good job for Samsung after-sales service. I couldn't find a working LED TV. So if you decide to go, make sure you get one without a flashlight. In general, I recommend plasma over LED. It has a good picture, especially for watching Bluray movies. If that doesn't matter and you mostly watch TV and sports during the day, you might want to consider a brighter LED screen.

nice tv Best value you will get
By Stephen Wells
I think you'd be hard pressed to find better value for a 55-60 inch TV than what Amazon offers. If you're like me, you've narrowed down your search to 2 or 3 TVs and are trying to decide which one fits your needs. I hope this review helps you decide if this TV is for you Before you pull the trigger on this TV, I have a few important concerns. *I'm concerned about normal plasma hum on plasma TVs. *I'm concerned about the gloss finish reflecting too much of the 6 windows in my living room. * I'm afraid the TV isn't bright enough for my situation since I'm not in a dark "theater" room with the TV off. Makes it difficult to watch/enjoy TV and movies. I'm happy to report that although I hear a buzzing sound when I'm sitting directly in front of the TV, I only hear it when there's no sound coming from the TV (for example, when the TV starts up ). or when navigating quiet menus like Netflix). When I first got the TV I tried listening to it during movies and sometimes I could hear it if I tried really hard in quiet scenes. It doesn't matter if I don't try to listen to the hum. I compared the hum to the noise of my Xbox fan. If you can hear it, yes, but if you enjoy a movie or a game, you won't mind. Gloss Finish: This TV fits into our living room with about 6 windows and a kitchen light just behind the seating area that reflects on the TV when turned off. When the TV is on, I see no problem. However, I closed the window curtains. If I check the reflections I might be able to tell the difference, but I watch movies and play games in the middle of the day and can't complain about the finish. Brightness: Plasma screens are generally not as bright as newer LCD screens. This TV replaces the 3 year old LCD and looks brighter to me. I can't compare it to the new LED-backlit LCD because I don't have one, but it's too bright to enjoy movies even in a well-lit room. No complaints here. Well, that's my main concern. Now a few things that drew me to this TV: The colors on this TV are uniform and consistent across the screen. Now there is bleeding in the corners or edges. The black layer is very dark and sharp. I haven't calibrated yet and sometimes the colors seem a bit oversaturated, but I'm sure it can be improved with calibration. The oversaturated scenes weren't low enough or frequent enough to calibrate my timing. The size of this TV is amazing... If you've ever seen a 60 inch TV next to a 55 inch TV, you know that 5 (4 in this case) inches makes a huge difference. Oh, and the depth is about 1.5". This depth was ideal for me because I wanted something thin, but didn't want the flash and light bleed to interfere with the LCD screen. things that don't influence my decision too much, no: 3D Me, I'm not a big fan of 3D, the biggest - I think it's cool and fun, but I prefer non-3D to 3D 95% of the time if I'm really into 3D Personally I would choose passive 3D because you can get 10 pairs of glasses for $20 vs $40 for Samsung's active shutter glasses 3D depth was awesome I use the app a lot as I use my xbox for netflix but access to menus and browser apps is pretty good I think I've been traveling for a while I think if I can point out one thing , all television technologies have compromises Plasma technology has disadvantages and disadvantages. It has many advantages and strengths over other technologies. I play a lot of video games, so plasma's strengths for gaming outweigh its weaknesses. I hope this review helps you.

Why buy LEDs?
by Tony
This TV is amazing. I have researched LCD and LED TVs available on the market and it does not come close to the picture of these TVs The furnishings were simple and the TV looked fantastic. Smart TV features are fun and worth the extra price hike. The 3D is the best I've ever seen on TV. Plasma is still the king of TVs. Awesome Samsung!!! By the way: NO RINGING!!!
