I spent months looking for a replacement bedroom TV and finally settled on the Sony KDL32EX523. It was easy to set up - and I did it twice because I don't have a DVR at home - so I first connected the TV directly with Comcast cable (not a set-top box or DTA) and was able to select. lift all my channels. (I don't subscribe to premium services like HBO). A few days later I added the DVR and started watching channels right away. (Well, Comcast really had trouble getting the DVR's signal, so Comcast's 1-star rating changed to Direct TV in the process.) It was as simple as plugging the Sony into my wireless network. Enter my network password on the TV (this model has built-in Sony Wireless - no external USB device required), just like adding a computer - enter an existing network, enter the password and boom - connect. Getting the TV to work with my Netflix account was easy - I logged into my Netflix account using my laptop - entered the code from the TV - and boom - the TV turned on and it immediately connected to Netflix. This Sony streams Netflix content just fine from a TIVO DVR in another room next to my wireless hub. The picture quality is excellent: there are no problems with viewing angles, there is no strong noise from the power supply. I don't want to sound like a Sony commercial, but it's a good TV for me.

Overall, this is a very good TV. She is very thin. The biggest draw for me is the built-in internet software. I actually returned the video that didn't work (Pandora completely broke the TV) and bought this. This is better. I've tried other internet apps and this Sony speed is probably the fastest I've seen in terms of menu navigation. And the menu is also assembled. Maybe too many features for some people. The Pandora app works fine. There's a lot of room for improvement in the way it's actually laid out (the menus are color coded and they only mention one feature - skip - why doesn't it add thumbs, thumbs, etc.). No good visual effects. But it does what it's supposed to: play music. The interest video doesn't work at all. I've never seen anything playable, not even a selection of game items. I don't know what went wrong, but I understand that Sony was recently hacked and now they are shutting down the service completely. Maybe not. Amazon's on-demand streaming works very well and is of high quality. If you're an Amazon Prime member, you have a number of games that are free when you authenticate with your Prime account. (The entire Inspector Gadget series!) Netflix playback is great, but buffering persists. Not buffering enough content. It will "detect" the network speed when you run something, but obviously that definition isn't very conservative, or it would degrade my quality in favor of better playback. It is not available now that it is configured. You can download the program to your computer - PC, Mac, Linux, etc. - it gives you videos, photos, movies, etc. allows broadcasting. Directly from your computer to your TV. There are many alternatives to Google DLNA software, many of which are free. Windows 7 includes Windows Media Player, but Microsoft has many other paid and open source programs that offer more than just its own software. This is a pretty cool feature. Television aesthetics. I will say that there are other Sony TVs in the Bravia line that I like, but I also like this one. And it is strong, heavy. Slim form factor. However, it's so thin that even though all the ports come out at the right angle, the bezels don't line up with the back of the TV. Why is this a problem? If you are mounting the TV on a wall, the cable itself may prevent you from using the wall bracket. I have a new LG LED TV and they used a special cable breaker to fix this problem; Instead, you plug a small key switch into the port, then it freezes and you plug the cable into that key switch. Once you have it, there is no problem mounting it too close to the wall. With this Sony, you may need to use a corner wall mount or a wall mount that leaves a few inches of space between the TV and the wall to provide the necessary distance. Or I think you can buy a 45 degree HDMI cable which is more expensive and will probably work with any wall mount. The TV has Skype, but a camera/microphone for Skype must be purchased from Sony for $130-$150. To work. Out of curiosity, I connected a Logitech USB camera to the TV so it could detect it and use Skype with it, but to no avail. Not surprising, but good to know. I'm glad Sony has finally stopped pushing memory cards integrated into every product, this TV doesn't have a memory card port. There is a USB port that can be used with a standard USB reader. The TV splits the screen and does it really well. I can watch my HD cable and HD antenna at the same time (or HD cable and connected computer, etc.); When I try to adjust the channel, I occasionally get a "function not supported" message and I don't know what I'm doing. Split screen is a feature overlooked by other manufacturers, the LG LED I bought doesn't have it... so don't take it lightly! It only has a component input... so I don't currently have a DVD player installed and that will force me to upgrade to Blu-ray with HDMI. The industry trend seems to be to reduce the number of component inputs by 1 and increase the number of HDMI inputs. The board is good. I don't really like Sony remotes, but this one can do it. The buttons are well placed and well sized. It has buttons for Netflix and Qriocity, but no Pandora, and there's no way to reprogram the buttons. This is not a "universal" remote, you cannot program the stereo. I think the main reason for this is that the TV has built-in "sync" capability to drive Sony devices such as Sony stereos. So of course if you have the full Sony lineup it's fine, but otherwise. I need another remote. The TV has a "Control for HDMI" (branded as "Bravia Sync") feature that sends control signals to devices via HDMI. This will mostly only work with Sony devices, but I don't think it should be closed for other devices, they don't support it. So, for example, if you have a Blu-ray connected via HDMI, you can pause/start/play the DVD using your TV's controls. It would be nice to be able to control Comcast through this cable box, but I think I will cancel Comcast before they support this feature. The TV has a built-in guide that includes information about broadcast channels. Connected digital antenna. If it works, I have to set it for location, it just works. He identified the station and entered the driver's information. Great to have a handy guide to my antenna station and cable box. One of the best features of this TV is the power saving mode. The TV has a built-in "presence sensor" that detects when you're there. When you're away from home, it will turn off the screen after a while and turn it on again when you return. It works fine and is enabled by default. Will this be the next horizon of American laziness that never turns off the TV and relies solely on this feature? Who knows :)

This TV is great and could be great if it wasn't for bad internet. The form factor itself is pretty cool; Ultra thin, light and durable with small bezels. Installation is very quick and easy. Incredible HD picture - beautiful colors, very sharp, with deep blacks. However, SD pictures are often blurry and a bit washed out, making SD videos difficult to watch My 3 year old Sony 32" performs much better than SD. Viewing angles are good. TV looks great when watching live. Side to side the picture fades quickly when I pass it. At first I thought the sound was below average. corrected in these settings, Everything looks pretty good. But if you're a music fan, you'll need an amplifier with separate speakers. I had no problem with the 60Hz refresh rate. I think if I watch more sports, may be a problem. Internet Interface This TV's weak points. I have a 40EX523 with built-in wifi. No need for a separate dongle. Download times for most internet apps are quite slow, much slower than my favorite Roku box. Netflix interface is very poor. Too small so you can't watch many movies on the screen.You can't even search or watch titles.Sony Netflix picture is worse than Netflix on Roku. The color is a bit washed out and the picture is blurry on the Sony Netflix. Sony images on Hulu and Amazon look just as good as Roku images. Again, H ulu and Amazon's interface is worse than Roku's. Crackle should not be used either. It takes forever to download and then you have to download again even at high internet download speeds. It's almost impossible to get back to where you left off in the movie. It works so poorly that I'm surprised Sony even included it. They must work properly or be removed. I recommend buying this TV without an internet connection (40EX520) and not bothering with a very expensive internet dongle. Do yourself a favor and buy a $79 Roku box and use it to stream TV shows and movies. That's a lot more than what Sony offers on this TV. Sony engineers should have studied the Roku box and interface and used their knowledge to improve their rather pathetic internet offering. It is very good and entertaining TV without Internet.
