Yesterday we introduced the new Mitsubishi 82 inch WD-82738. First of all, the TV is well packaged, no damage and a large box. Having previously owned a DLP TV I can say this is the best. The picture is bright and clear like we've never experienced before and considering the reasonable price for such a large TV I'd rate this TV as a bargain. The issues I had were minor but worth noting. I had no sound for the first hour after turning on the TV, I had a great picture, but no matter what I did with the TV volume settings, there was no sound. I wasn't sure if it was the receiver or the TV as my only input was the satellite receiver...so I connected it to the internet. more words. This time I was ready to call Mitsubishi when I read a brief paragraph on the back cover. Installation manual.... System reset Press and hold the power button for about 10 seconds and when the TV restarts... there was a sound. I think it would be nice to make it a bit clearer... I spent a lot of time researching before realizing this needed to be done. The only other negative point ... is mentioned on the technical sheet. Says it has optical digital audio output...it's not optical...or it certainly doesn't sound like my other optical connections or my own cables. But it works with surround sound, so I guess that feature isn't that important... but they should change it in the ad.

I looked for this TV for 3 months until finally I bought it here on Amazon with the best price and 30 day return option and tax free shipping. I found about 338 pages on AVS forum on their forum covering all the features of this TV, updates, bugs that customers may make (e.g. overheating, TV auto shut off). It came with the latest firmware update, or at least that's how it was when I first saw it. It is connected to the internet by cable and not wirelessly. In terms of image quality, DLP is not comparable to LED/LCD. We think plasma TVs are superior in terms of picture quality. Fulfilling our wishes was not a problem. You should know that these TVs come pre-programmed with "flashlight mode", but that's by no means the best picture the screen can show you. So take your time to find the setting that works best for you, it's all there, you just have to find it and use it. A simple basic calibration takes me about 30 minutes. Also noteworthy is the single-source PQ. If you're a TV station broadcasting an SD signal, don't expect great things here. The HD signal gives you a crisp, clear picture and gives us movies my wife and I love. (He has a master's degree in cinematography, so no endless arguments about buying this TV... what a lucky person I am.) The DLP design is big, but small. Thanks to the very small frame, the screen extends to the edge and disappears into a dark room when viewed. This TV has all the advanced settings required for Pro Calibration. The remote control is slightly wider and lighter or smaller, which saves you money. Better yet, although the bulb replacement is "cheaper" at about $100.00, I would install an additional small computer fan in the TV cabinet to extend the life of the bulb and prevent it from auto-turning off. When the temperature inside rises. This can happen if the back is close to the wall and there is not enough air circulation. 3D effect-----not yet tested---speakers are suitable for this TV, surround sound setting is highly recommended. Nevertheless. All in all, no reason to deduct a star. I'll update if there's anything to report here.

I've been on TV for about 2 weeks and can't watch more than an hour and it's getting shorter and shorter. Something is obviously wrong with the bulb/ballast. The image drops and the green indicator turns red. The book says to change the lightbulb. After an encounter with Mitsu, it took 5 days for a new bulb to come and it didn't work. Now I have to wait about 4-5 more days for the technician to come and look at the kit. Two years ago this was a common problem, you would think it would be fixed by now. Unless I'm unlucky and catch one of those bad apples.
