Surround sound is great, but one important feature is missing
Evan
I had this home theater in my box for about a month and everything is fine, 3D, wireless Blu-ray player, but one important detail is missing. The receiver does not have an HDMI input, so if you plan to connect more devices for surround sound use, you can use Toslink cables. I am happy with my purchase and 5 stars across the board if this receiver has 2 or more HDMI inputs. If you want the wireless rear speakers to be wireless, the wireless transmitter will be sold separately, whether it's a deal breaker or not. Great sound, deep foundation. So far, it has been the preferred choice despite the lack of HDMI inputs.

All in one

Everything you need in one system, just plug it into your TV and you're ready for the great home theater experience I use with my 46" Samsung LCD TV that I bought a few weeks ago with this system. I chose the TV first because it has the ability to DLNA media sharing so I can stream all my shows and movies from my computer in my bedroom to my comfy couch in my living room. Then I tried watching DVDs on this TV with an old Sony player from 2004 and the results were not very good. So I decided to go Blu-ray and chose this all-in-one package. without despair. I was in the same brand family because the TV was really cool, the DLNA feature that Samsung is putting in their smart devices is the future of media sharing and Samsung seems to be one of the few big brands in technology.Samsung's AniNet feature is a good reason to have a wire viewer and player in this family, as it simplifies common settings such as turning each other on/off. On the plus side, the picture looks great, DVDs and Blu-rays sound great, and after some audio tweaks, I have a healthy dose of bass and clear mids and highs. The audio setup wizard worked great with the tracking mic, and then you can adjust the distance and volume of each speaker to your liking... I split the subwoofer all the way up. Blu-ray 5.1 audio is satisfactory, with "3D" audio set to volume, recreating the surround sound of TV shows and movies streamed from my computer via DLNA, as well as just plain old stereo DVDs. I've selected music/radio in the player and it sounds great, especially with the built-in audio settings that can simulate sound halls/concert venues/etc. And you can turn a song on the radio into what you want to hear in a club or bar... but I usually only use the player for videos. I had no problems connecting any of the speakers and not all of the cables were the right length for the living room in my apartment. I've tried an HDMI connection with audio return so I can stream content to the TV and adjust the volume on the player but now I can't get it to work and with a suitable optical cable I just plug it into the output so the audio return works. You never have to fiddle with any settings. Some of the disadvantages of the player (but for the price and compared to the benefits are very small) are that the player does not handle MKV files and the container selection for most HD videos... which I find strange because the TV handles this without two devices of the same series. I was hoping there would be a firmware update to fix this for the player, but nothing has happened so far... so I just stream the MKV files to the TV using the audio player. Another drawback is that the DLNA player's OSD menu/browser doesn't display as many files on the screen at the same time as a TV, and the scroll/button delay is too long for the player. One last thing about the difference between the player and the TV when it comes to DLNA sharing is that the TV uses the ABCD buttons on the remote and if you resume a previously watched video it will direct you to one of those symbols when the player doesn't does this. offer an option instead of you. Resume from where you left off (very convenient). Oh, and the player doesn't have a headphone jack, so you can't come back at 4 a.m. and watch Lethal Weapon on Blu-ray without waking up the neighbors. A semi-universal remote control that can be used to control your Samsung TV. I almost ditched the TV remote for the player remote. A small quirk of the remote could be that the "source" button is on the top of the remote and would be more convenient if it was in the middle of the remote. Also when you press "Source" it cycles through every source connected to the player whether it is connected or not, while on the Samsung TV a transparent window appears where you can select the source instead of the control. Much better functionality. IMHO later. As for the online content/feature, I've used it maybe 6 times just to try it out or get bored. Yes, watching YouTube videos on the big TV in the living room is great, but it's probably the best 10 minutes of entertainment. I don't really care about Facebook or any other "widget" or "widget" or whatever they call it in their "app" store. I'm still waiting for the firmware update that includes the web browser because I think I'll be able to use it more than once a month out of annoying curiosity. You also have to subscribe to the Samsung SmartTV online thing and the actual apps make me stop trying something like Netflix or Blockbuster online. Why sign up for something when you can download it to your computer and stream it to your player? I am very pleased with this home entertainment system and would recommend it to anyone who wants a great rig that has just about everything you need at an affordable price.

The all-in-one Blu-ray 3D home theater system

This product is designed and works very well! The appearance of the product is very black and glossy, giving it a clean and modern look. I bought this item for an Auido HDMI return channel which works great after a little mess! The cable from the TV to the receiver provides sound from the stereo system to all items connected to the TV, or vice versa. No nonsense!! (HDMI v1.4 plugs and cables must be used for ARC functions, bad). When connected to a compatible CEC, Anynet+ or DNLA, this unit will automatically coordinate all functions with the TV via HDMI. Turn on the blue light, the TV will turn itself on, switch to the correct input and start the movie. It also comes with an iPod dock that charges the iPod when the stereo is on (it would be better if it was charged all the time), but gives good control over controlling the iPod or audio through the TV , I like searching for songs on my phone TV iPod even better. The touch controls are pretty cool and spoil the look of the buttons (like a dishwasher with no buttons on the front), however I've accidentally tripped over the controls and turned the unit on and off a few times. Therefore, it is not good if it is within the reach of small children, but the 3D Blu-ray player should be within the reach of children. $299.00 duty free shipping via Amazon, cheapest in the world. $379.00 higher on all other sites. I would buy from Amazon again in a heartbeat, customer service is A+. When they really mean no effort in return, they are real.
