First, I bought a second set from Amazon today. The first group had a problem with the glossy glass screen. I can't tell if it's a screen thread or a small crack. Obviously there should not be and replaced by Amazon. I'm on the second set for the first 2 hours, but I haven't seen the same problem in the second set yet. This is supported by several other reviewers who have stated that quality control can be an issue with these packages. This is in contrast to the weight of the TV and indicates that it should be very good. Watching TV is very easy. No additional hubs or manufacturer nameplates visible. I like this because I often get mad when I see constant ads for the products I buy. When the TV is turned on, the "LG" that lights up at the bottom may go out when the device is turned on. This means that in a dark room (like mine) all you see on this TV is an image... as it should be. The only caveat is the little lights that flash on and off to let the viewer know. My overall impression of the image quality is mostly poor. I'm not a screen expert, so I'd suggest it's more "technical" than a normal viewer. These groups have display stability problems. Large, bright, white, or very light-colored portions of the screen display a noticeable horizontal banding. These tapes are simple but can be distracting depending on the viewer. It looks better with more hours in the first set, but this could be a software issue. However, if you watch a lot of content on a white screen, you may want to get a different TV. Some say they don't see. Others say they see more in the diversion scenes. There may be some difference from one board to another. Anyway, I've seen it in two batches, so anyone looking to buy a set will have to wait, unless there is a (software or hardware) upgrade of the set at some point. I looked at the backlight/ambient dimmer package. Although for a great reason ... comparison. No point in buying this kit to see powerful bright screens. This particular group is black because it can get to where things really are. The movies are great. I thought my old RPTV had a great picture, but the sharpness and clarity of the 55LE8500 put me to shame. As mentioned above, when you turn off the LG logo, you only see the image. Even though it is a mailbox, you will only see the image. The rest of the screen will be as black as the edges, and you'll never notice a mailbox in a dark room. The colors look bright and natural. Factory settings are fine, but consider changing the additional ISF settings to your liking. It would be nice to pay an expert tech to set up the TV properly, but it's not necessary to take a good picture. There is also a built-in menu system to do this. Summary, Pros: Excellent black level, sharp picture, great colors, no annoying stickers or flashing lights, automatic update when connected to the Internet, multiple logins, secret codes to change settings, may require a separate remote control. Cons: The screen has durability issues. Possible quality control issues. Maybe a little heavy, the screen is a little bright, there is no 3D support. Overall, this is the best 2D TV released in 2010. If you can control the lighting in your room and don't watch a lot of source material with very bright scenes, this is for you. Amazon is a good source for the device, but keep in mind that the Wireless Media Kit was included for free with the device last week, and prices vary widely (down, up, and down). I gave it 4 stars because it could be a little better and maybe it should be.

I received the 55LE8500 last Wednesday and after spending some time with it, I know I made the right choice for a new TV. The picture is really amazing when watching HD programmes. More Bluray titles. I am also very happy with the programming of the standard ie. Non-HD cable channels and avi file quality. The black level performance is impressive. This TV has full LED backlighting with ambient dimming and does not suffer from fogging or burn-in issues like other products. Mirror Face is an image enhancer that gives an image a clear yet highly reflective look. You should be able to control the light sources in your viewing room. It wasn't difficult for me, but if you have a room with a lot of windows and big lights, it can be difficult. After the TV is connected to the network, you can use the available Internet functions. You can update the software as it becomes available, there are Vudu movie options, Netflix, and many other options. This is a very expensive product, but the build quality shows and display technology is among the best this year. My first choice was a Panasonic 54VT25 plasma; The screen is not very reflective, but I am concerned about the image sticking and burning, so I went with the LCD. If you want one of the best HD screens and can control the light sources in your viewing room, you will not regret the LG LE8500.

I bought LG55LE8500 TV 3 weeks ago. Very happy with the TV so far. Everything looks great in stunning HD and Blu-ray. The black is black on this TV and the colors are very accurate. Although this TV is very good, it has its downsides. Analog cable TV doesn't look very good in this group. The screen is a frameless glass screen and can be fully reflective in dark scenes, especially if you have a well-lit room. You will also see some horizontal lines on the screen with a bright blue background in some scenes. Some people are upset about it, and some people just don't care or don't. Overall, this TV is said to be the second best LED TV model and offering from LG. It's not the cheapest TV, but it's worth it for the price, build, and picture quality compared to similar Samsung models.
