I finally upgraded my 3 year old Blu-ray player and what a difference! Super fast downloads and access - no more waiting. It has two very important HDMI outputs. If you're using an AV receiver that's not compatible with HDMI 1.4 (3-D) and you didn't have one if you purchased it within the last six months, that's a big problem. Providing a direct HDMI 1.4 connection to your 3D TV, a second HDMI passes HDMI 1.3 data to your AV receiver for audio. (A receiver without HDMI 1.4 will not pass 3D video to a new 3D TV, so if you only have one HDMI 3D Blu-ray output, you must use one HDMI output to connect directly to your TV and use this receiver's analog audio output Bey is an important compromise). It's one of the few Blu-ray discs with dual HDMI outputs that saves you the hassle of modifying an expensive receiver. This is the smartest and cheapest way to get your old (or even one year old) receiver working. Great intuitive menu system with apps for things like news, weather and games, plus all the apps for video services like Netflix, Vudu, Cinema Now, Hulu and more. Good. Cute design! This is the third 3D Blu-ray player I brought home after my 6 year old Sony Carousel started spitting out discs and was very hard to get to. But that's a whole other story, and you can read about it in my Sony S580 reviews if you like. I connected a Samsung BD-D6700 to a 2011 Samsung D8000 59" Plasma Monitor. I'm running it through a Denon 3311CI HDMI 1.4a compatible receiver using an AmazonBasics High Speed HDMI cable. The player is compatible with the digital part of Samsung's two-way QWERTY remote that comes with their high-end TVs, though I don't see this remote as a standalone item on Amazon. Is its price competitive with Sony? New S580? There are 3 differences that I can notice: 2 HDMI ports, the switch from 2D to 3D, and the differences otherwise seem to be identical discs, and I'll be waiting for my comments here to apply for the top 6500 in the Samsung 2010 lineup. Apart from the recording issue Netflix due to the return of the open box, I thought that the price offered by the model last year did not match: the menu system was not sophisticated enough, and the device was a bit light and flimsy (especially the slide-out DVD case). It's all about this phone: the retail price of this device is lower than last year's 7900 without a box (D6700 is not the "best" device of this year, but the distinctive features of the C7900 are carried over to it). Unlike last year's C7900, which had these controls on the top of the device, the D6700 keeps them on the front of the camera. Touch controls are mostly responsive, although I occasionally have issues with the power button. This is usually not a problem because I use the remote most of the time, but at this time I just want to press and then turn on (this automatically turns on the TV and switches to the correct input). There is one method of trial and error. involved. Well, there are a lot of extra features here including 2D to 3D conversion that I haven't had a chance to test yet. I will update this review and rating as soon as I do. However, I would like to first touch on a few things that are far from ideal.
