4: Good system, no regrets
by Galen
I'm surprised more people haven't tried this kit, although I admit I'd be a little wary of diving in due to the lack of reviews. Also, the general complaints about wireless rear speakers bother me. Let me first comment on the wireless rear speakers. They work as advertised. I don't know if I'm lucky, the villains are unlucky, or my team is just waiting to die (I've only been able to watch a few movies with him so far), but I haven't. There is still a problem with them. There is no noticeable delay in the wireless process and the sound from the speaker is very convincing. The additional features of this device are very good, especially the Bluetooth connectivity, and the remote control is very intuitive with a beautiful menu-oriented user interface. No complaints, although it would be nice if the set offered more quality control over volume settings. The computer works well with my wireless router and provides various Internet services. To be honest, I use the service provided by my Vizio TV (E3D420VX) quite often, if only because my TV remote includes a qwerty keyboard on the back, which makes searching much easier. Speaking of TVs, you may need to use the optical audio output, as while the LG unit offers ARC for HDMI, mine does not. It can be applied to different TVs. When it comes to TV dimensions, keep in mind that while the base unit isn't very tall, it is quite wide (~17.5 inches) and deep (~12 inches). in). It barely fits on the TV I have. It also uses exhaust fans, so you'll need more clearance behind and above the unit (the fans seem to run so quietly I've never heard of them). A fan is also used on the rear wireless receiver, although it appears to run silently. The speaker is about a foot tall, and unfortunately for a cheap mounting bracket, the mounting bracket is about 7 inches from the base. I wasn't sure if the most universal stand I've seen would fit these speakers, so I placed them on racks and racks (there are rubber feet on each speaker, so I didn't hear any problems). . of vibration). Also, for those wondering, the speakers are not covered in tin. Now an important consideration. Sound Let me say up front that these are not sound quality speakers. You'll know for sure that you're hearing an HTIB kit. That said, I'm pretty happy with the collection so far. The speakers are not too boxy, and for 2.1 music listening, they handle it well. In comparison, I'd probably rank them below comparable (and more expensive) Bose gear. The stuff looks a little clunky for my taste, but that's probably because I'm mostly out of the box at this point and can't adapt the system to my living room. The subwoofer is impressive but doesn't seem to have a good crossover arrangement, sometimes underpowered or too bright (this may be related to the room configuration - mine wasn't exactly acoustically friendly). Unfortunately, you don't seem to be able to control much other than through the EQ, although (I hope) I could be wrong. . The rear speakers are ideal for listening to gunshots, broken glass and other non-musical sounds. But when you start playing music, they seem to dominate the front speakers, which is a bit of a problem, as they can't use the relatively distant subwoofers as effectively as the front speakers. Finally, they sound a bit louder compared to the front speakers. However, I must reiterate that I am not delving into all the settings, and I must mention that the movies I have seen so far are DVDs. Blu-ray movies are probably better. Also, the movie encoding itself might not be suitable for my setup... the last movie I saw called Incest had a lot of problems with the soundtrack. This is enhanced by the experience of listening to music with 5.1 at one of the sound effect settings, Bass Blast, where the rear speakers do not seem heavy (and actually produce sound that is only one step below the Music setting). ) midrange sounds great, not great, and generally handles conversation convincingly. However, I wasn't too impressed with the sound handling when listening to music compared to the standard 2.1 setup. As I mentioned earlier, the sub doesn't mix well with other speakers and can be quite loud at times, but that could be a setup issue or something that can be fixed. I really need to experiment a bit more. I could say the full 9.1 3D sound is a gimmick, but I know it's visible, and it should be pretty straightforward, as there is currently no 9.1 encoding for Blu-ray. Again, I can't say I've spent enough time with the media to make a true judgment on this, but I highly doubt I'll change my mind. If 3D sound isn't a selling point for me, it's not a problem. The only real concern with this set is how unique all the parts are. The set assumes the use of a wireless rear receiver (there is no rear speaker port on the main unit, and even if there is, you cannot connect it). All the speaker cable inputs are also proprietary, so unless you want to use standard cables with the included cable connectors, you'll stick with the ones supplied, although what they offer is good enough for my purposes. The convenience of merging everything into one main unit also becomes a problem even if the unit dies. However, as long as the amp doesn't turn itself off, I think it's a bit flexible in that regard, as it offers 2 HDMI inputs (which I don't currently use). Overall I am happy with my purchase, a solid system. I got it for $500, but $600 isn't a bad price either, especially if you're starting out without a Blu-ray player or anything like me. It looks great, offers a lot of convenience (I like to play music on my phone via Bluetooth, for example), and the wireless rear speakers travel to reduce clutter without going through the ceiling or walls.

3: not good
Gang 13
We purchased this system for a home theater system. Sound is good through the speakers. There are many software updates that are easy to apply. Sometimes there is a delay between the main unit and the Bluetooth speaker system. I think a software update will fix this problem. My biggest issue is the atrocities of the wireless interface. I moved my router directly over the system and it still skips when I play movies on the internet. Using my Nintendo Wii to play the same content on the same router worked flawlessly. The processor sometimes works under the hood. The app "store" takes a long time to load and the apps there are useless. It's tempting to try and get this open source firmware and leave LG's slow software behind.

4: A decent system
By Mary
I have had it for about a month. The system is not bad and works with my LG TV via SampleLink. The sound coming from the front is very good. However, the sound from the rear speakers sometimes gives an echo. I mostly look at reviews about old movies. The new Blu-ray movie has no reviews. Overall very good choices. Bluetooth worked fine with my Galaxy S2, but you can't control it from the player. You must use the phone. Internet apps like Netflix work well. Overall good product but one star lost due to feedback. The PS wireless speaker works perfectly. I'm afraid you won't read all the reviews, but they work and can be adjusted with software to adjust space, volume, etc.
